Başak College Students Visited Menderes Geothermal Power Plant Accompanied by Their Teachers. Başak College students, who showed how much they were interested in the subject with the questions they asked our engineers, had the chance to see geothermal energy at its source during the environment week.
Aydın Başak College 6th grade students visited the DORA-2 Geothermal Power Plant, which is affiliated with MB Holding and is part of MEGE. The children, who saw a geothermal power plant for the first time in their lives, had an exciting and enjoyable technical tour of the MB Holding facilities.
Listening with interest to the principle of energy production from geothermal, which is an environmentally friendly, local, renewable and sustainable energy source, 6th grade students asked their questions to MEGE A.Ş. Mechanical Department Manager Mechanical Engineer Murat Karadaş, accompanied by their teacher Ebru Şahin Özaksoy.
During the trip organized for Environment Week, students experienced the joy of seeing geothermal in person, which they only discussed verbally in class. During the visit, MB Holding Board Chairman Muharrem Balat touched on the importance of leaving a healthy environment for future generations and stated that it is of great importance for children to grow up with a certain level of environmental awareness and that instilling this awareness in children is a mission for the holding.
Muharrem Balat, who emphasized that such investments should be introduced to all young people, said that their aim is to increase the level of welfare with such investments made in the region, to support social balances and to contribute to the country’s economy, and that geothermal is not just about hot water, how electricity is produced, what reinjection means, the indispensability of a carbon dioxide facility and what can be done in an integrated manner, as in our technological greenhouse with Sultan geothermal resources, will benefit young people.
Balat, who stated that he did his best to leave a clean environment for future generations, stated that the doors of geothermal facilities are always open to all educational institutions. He stated that they are waiting for the young people to visit again, congratulated the teachers who made this trip possible and sent the student group to their schools.
