Menderes Geothermal Electricity Generation Inc., which produces clean energy with environmentally friendly production, has protected the 500-year-old olive tree within its power plants. The olive tree, estimated to be approximately 500 years old, located in the AS 17 well area near the DORA 3 Unit-1 Power Plant affiliated with MEGE in Aydın, was taken under protection by MEGE Personnel.
MB Holding Board Chairman Muharrem Balat, who emphasized the importance of protecting the tree, which is surrounded by wires to prevent damage, said; “Our company, which produces nature-friendly, clean energy, carries out production that respects the environment. We prevent the cutting down of 200,000 trees annually with the geothermal energy we produce.
We also take great care to keep the areas where our power plants are located green. Birds come to our clean power plants and build nests. Trees produce products, and geothermal energy makes this region, which already has fertile soil, even more fertile. We maintain our sensitivity to the environment not only in energy production but in every sector we are in,” he said.
Balat, who pointed out that trees should be protected, stated that this country needs a clean environment and expressed that they do not think that anyone would harm the tree they have protected for no reason, said; “We have physically protected our tree because it is very old. The reason for this is both to protect the tree and to take precautions in case it falls. I believe that no one in our Aydın region would knowingly harm anyone’s property or life. It is important for us that such an old tree lives this long.”
