The supply contract for the DORA-4 Geothermal Power Plant, which was founded by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yıldız and is affiliated with MEGE, a group company of MB Holding, was signed yesterday. The signing ceremony, which was held in the Aydın office of MB Holding, was attended by MB Holding Chairman Muharrem Balat, Ormat Systems Ltd. Chairman of the Board of Directors Lucien Bronichi, MB Holding Management and Ormat Systems Executives.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, MB Holding A.Ş. Board Chairman Muharrem Balat said; “It is a social responsibility for us to be able to run businesses in geothermal fields in a healthy way and to ensure resource sustainability and renewability. By bringing Turkey’s first private geothermal facility, DORA-1 with a power of 8.5 MWe to our country, we have reduced carbon dioxide emissions compared to energy production from similar carbon fuels and also contributed to the reduction of foreign exchange inputs spent for oil. In terms of numbers, we achieved a carbon dioxide emission reduction of 32 thousand tons per year in the first project, 45 thousand tons per year in the DORA-2 project and 110 thousand tons in DORA-3. This picture honors us. We want to leave a clean world to future generations. We are working very hard for this.” and signed the contract.

Balat: “Protecting and Preserving Geothermal is a National Duty”

Muharrem Balat, who answered the questions after the signing, said; “We held the opening of our DORA-3 Unit-1 and DORA-3 Unit-2 power plant projects with an installed capacity of 34 MWe, the foundations of which we laid 2 years ago, with the participation of our Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yıldız. Our Minister is a leading figure in energy investments. That is why he gives full support to companies. Our next goal is to implement the DORA-4 project with a capacity of 17 MWe, for which we have signed the supply contract, in 2015. Thus, our installed capacity will increase to approximately 70 MWe. As we all know, the importance of renewable energy sources, which are alternatives to fossil energy sources that are depleting more and more each passing day, is increasing. Protecting and sustaining these resources is a national duty.”

Balat concluded his words as follows; “Geothermal energy is a clean, local and sustainable energy source. Energy that is not dependent on foreign sources is national. A national energy source is cheap. Geothermal resources should be constantly monitored, operated correctly and the infinite life of the resource should be ensured.”

Following the speeches, Ormat Systems Ltd. Chairman of the Board of Directors Lucien Bronichi presented a gift to MB Holding Chairman of the Board of Directors Muharrem Balat as a souvenir of such a day. The signing ceremony ended with a group photo.
