Geothermal production well testing studies are being carried out in an environmentally sensitive manner at DORA GPP facilities located in Köşk District of Aydın Province. All of the fluids produced from the existing 5 geothermal power plant facilities, which currently produce energy at a capacity of 70 MWe, are 100% reinjected through injection wells and all of them are pumped back into the reservoir.
A pipeline connection was made to another observation well on the field for the production test work of the spare production well planned to be connected to the DORA GPP facilities in these days, and a pump station was established. During the test work, all of the fluid produced through the system established will be pressed back into the reservoir to protect the source, and it will be ensured that the fluid produced for the test will never be discharged.
MB Holding Honorary President and Civil Engineer Muharrem Balat, who examined the studies on site, said; “As it is known, the wells from which geothermal fluid is obtained must be operated with high efficiency as the first day they were opened for production and without losing the renewable feature of the geothermal fields. This issue is also an indispensable condition in terms of ensuring the sustainability of the geothermal reserve area and keeping the geothermal well efficiency continuous and high. Geothermal field and reserve management without 100% reinjection application is absolutely unacceptable. On the contrary, the reservoir management to be done will cause our country’s geothermal resources to lose their renewable feature. This situation will cause our national energy source to disappear. In our Köşk district, which has a great wealth in terms of geothermal resources as well as natural beauties, production well test studies are being carried out in a conscious and environmentally sensitive manner at the DORA GES facilities. For this test study, a geothermal fluid transmission line, a geothermal fluid accumulation pool and a pump station were established to pump the fluid to be produced back into the well. “We prefer to inject one liter of geothermal fluid produced from the well into the reservoir in order to protect the reserve. This exemplary project has been implemented by pushing the conditions to the limit within the possibilities in order to ensure the sustainability of the geothermal resource and to protect the environment. The additional investment in the test study carried out here and the cost of the test operation are secondary for our company,” he said.
